Ex-student from SRJK(C) Chen Moh - P.Jaya. Wanted!!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The newspaper cut out above is from China Press front page on Tuesday ago (28/8), calling for all ex-student from SRJK(C)Chen Moh. The primary school wanted to welcome back the past year student back to the school to have a look on 23th September. Yes, I was from this primary school back in year 1986-1991. From the pic you can see many current famous people are produced from this school. Like DAP Chew Mee Fun, Astro program host - Siao Hui Min (Ch.30), Yen Jiang Han & Zheng Jing Ting (Ch.19) and Wu Jian Piao - our politician newbies who just join MCA.

This news reported no any further, just the above short one. Wondering whats going on on that day. I'm thinking to go back to have a look to see the changes and recall back my good old study days. I still remember which classroom I used before from Std 1 - Std 6 and roughly my sitting position too...Oppss....memory are start bringing me back there now...My class teacher just got retired last year August. It has been sometimes I didn't manage to join the classmate gathering, it is getting lesser and lesser each year for those who can turn up. Hopefully I can call up a few closed one see if they interested to join me.

Top 5 cancer-causing foods

  1. Hot dogs
The Cancer Prevention Coalition recommends that children should not eat more than 12 hot dogs per month because of the risk of cancer. If you must have your hot dog fix, look for those without sodium nitrite listed among the ingredients.

  2. Processed meats and bacon
These meats almost always contain the same sodium nitrite found in hot dogs. You can find some without nitrites, but you'll have to look for them in natural grocers or health food stores. Bacon is also high in saturated fat, which contributes to the risk of cancers, including breast cancer. Limiting your consumption of processed meats and saturated fats also benefits the heart.

  3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts contain hydrogenated oils, white flour, sugar, and acrylamides. Essentially, they're one of the worst cancer foods you can possibly eat. Reader's Digest calls doughnuts "disastrous" as a breakfast food, and many experts agree it's probably one of the worst ways to start the day.

  4. French fries
Fries are made with hydrogenated oil and fried at high temperatures. Some chains even add sugar to their fry recipe to make them even more irresistible. Not only do they clog your arteries with saturated fat and trans fat, they also contain acrylamides. They should be called "cancer fries," not French fries.

  5. Chips / crackers / cookies
These generally contain white flour and sugar as well as trans fats, but it's not enough to simply look for these ingredients on the label; you have to actually "decode" the ingredients list that food manufacturers use to deceive consumers. They do this by hiding ingredients (such as hiding MSG in yeast extract, or by fiddling with serving sizes so they can claim the food is trans fat free, even when it contains trans fats (the new Girl Scout cookies use this trick).

Get ready for Merdeka

Our country celebrate 50th anniversary Independence this year and since beginning of the year media are very much emphasis on this special event of the year. They are taking the opportunity to rise the spirit of this meaningful event by having concert and doing lots of activity to celebrate. I like the section from Astro whereby everyday featuring one National day baby and also on Ch.8 during News section featuring some story about special citizen from Malaysia. What so proud for we being Malaysian are we can live in country with different races, ethnic and religions and of cause our multi-language ability.

The Merdeka day is getting near, yesterday news showing that the parade teams and performers are getting busy preparing, practice and rehearsal. Since the beginning of the week, there are practices going on above the sky of my place early in the morning. A few helicopters round and round for about 15-20 mins with each hanging a flag flew in a line.
Last time during school day I love watching the Merdeka celebration live from TV. After married I have not been watching it every year. This year hopefully I can get up early to watch this meaningful 50th anniversary Merdeka celebration and I'm sure there are more things to see. Heard my cousin sis just got back from UK are bringing their 2 sons to watch the parade with the crowd at KL.

Here wishing all Malaysian a Happy Independence Day (and Happy Holiday) may the country continue to stay peaceful and prosperous.

4 Must-have Healthy Snacks

I believe everyone like snacks, especially munching it in front of TV watching your favorite series or going to cinema. Most of you will think that snack are some kind of unhealthy food. I just found an article that says these snack foods are healthy and MUST-HAVE! Come check out what is it.
  1. Bananas
This grab-and-go snack is a good source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, fiber, manganese and high in potassium. It is a heart-friendly health snack. Not only bananas are creamy and sweet, they also nutritious and are available year-round. Just eat bananas as is, toss them in your breakfast cereal, or simply blend bananas with low-fat milk to make a delicious smoothie.

  2. Yogurt
It is a very versatile food and a healthy snack. It can be enjoyed on its own, used as a fruit dip or mixed as a sauce or dressing. Not only does this creamy snack provide protein, calcium and potassium; it also contains active live bacterial cultures (also known as probiotics). It may enhance immune functions as well. Unfortunately, not all yogurt contains probiotics. L. bulgaricus, S. thermophilus and L. acidophilus are the most common bacterial strains added in yogurt. Therefore, look for these bacteria on the ingredient list. Also, check the label and look for the words "live cultures" or "active cultures." Avoid yogurt that says "heat-treated after culturing" on the label..

  3. Nuts
One of the best plant sources of protein and make for a great snack. They are rich in fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants such as Vitamin E and selenium. These tasty snacks are also high in plant sterols and fat - but mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (omega 3 - the good fats), which have all been shown to lower low-density lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol. Recognized the seven kinds of nuts that having role in heart disease prevention are almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts.

  4. Popcorn
Craving for a healthy snack on movie nights? How about popcorn? A standard three-cup serving of air-popped popcorn contains just 93 calories and less than 1.5 grams of fat. These low-calories snacks are considered whole grains, which have some valuable antioxidants not found in fruits and vegetables. They also contain B vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium and fiber. If you prefer microwave popcorn, choose the plain one if possible and avoid the "buttery" or "caramel" microwave popcorn that may be loaded with calories, sugar and trans fat.

A decade ago, the top five super foods are garlic, broccoli, soy, peanuts and salmon. After 10 years of new scientific discoveries, the foods stays on the list which picked by Dietitians are as follow:
  1. Walnuts

Bad stomach

Remember that an article talk about the goodness of eating banana? So since long time I didn't take this fruit, for the past 2 week I bought banana to eat, like have 6-7 in each bunch.

The past week nothing happen, but this week it really makes me sick. Due to eating up too many banana (like 1 day 2 pcs) my stomach goes bad with wind. Since Tuesday my appetite goes bad, I doesn't feel hungry at all. Imagine morning I eat a piece of biscuit and milk can last till 5pm. Even can feel the hungry but I can't eat much. It continue to the Wednesday morning my stool goes watery, and can feel that wanted to go toilet anytime. Really in trouble, as the same with no appetite to eat too. Getting worst. Ask hubby to get me some chinese med from medical hall end up back with empty hand. Ask to send me to clinic, he just closed his eye to sleep and ask me to shut up for making trouble there everytime. You see la, can go gym shiok shiok after work, drink with friends till late no problem. A little things ask to do from his wife got problem. Thats really really pissed me off.

I really can't sleep tossing in the bed, with a crying baby when I tuck him to bed. He not even care to look after the crying Terry in good day or bad day. Thats MY job only! End up I go down stair convenience shop to search for western stomach wind med but couldn't find any. The night Terry and I cry together. For the time being, I just don't care pop down pill Poh-Chye to soothe for the night, can't sleep well too. The next day, no improvement, still the same situation. I can't wait anymore for hubby to buy back med at night. I SOS my dad, he bought me the pill from pharmacy and even pack me lunch and dish for dinner, so that I no need trouble to cook many and can rest after taking pill. It turns better, at least can eat. Later in night I still eat the chinese med brought back. This morning can feel it back to normal.

Potty train

I know it is late to start on with my boy. No? may be, as I can see my boy is not ready to sit on potty around 8-9 months old, so wait till today where he can sit properly and steady, somehow it is not late too. Through some potty chat with my friends, it is better to let them sit to poo before they know how to walk. I'm salute those can train since newborn...when they are still fragile and soft and no timing for poo, basically it is hard for me.

It is better to be train after he can sit else you got to carry him to poo, which my boy will wail once I carry him in that position. Now he can nicely sit on the traditional round potty, the one we bought it during wedding..the medium size. I was wanted to get him a baby potty from Chicco before this. Since now he is comfortable sitting on it and can poo, so I no need to get him that.

It was started last Friday, right after the morning feed, let him crawl a while, then put him on the pot. I put a chair sit in front of him, give him something on hand to play and start accompany with lots of 'ngm ngm' sounds there. After 25 mins long, he poo-ed and wee in the pot. Bravo to my baby! He not even wail and kick or trying to stand up, cause he can't walk yet. I foresee if he started to walk and not used to potty he will walk away.

For the rest of the day during morning hours, he is not taking longer time to finish his business. No problem now to go on potty. Sometimes he poo twice a day. I did try to put him after lunch, but he wail. So, there is a few days the second poo is on diapers. Surprisingly yesterday noon for the very first time after lunch he cry, a very unusual did. So I faster open his diaper and put him on pot. In less than 20 minutes he poo-ed. Does that sounds like his poo signal?

Almost everyday, I keep on telling him that,"Boy, you are big baby now, have to learn to poo in pot and not diapers, also if you want to poo please tell mummy." Don't know whether he can understand what this mummy trying to tell him, anyway just try. Hopefully for the few days coming down, he able to start giving signal (and not false signal), so that it is more easier for me to put him on pot.

Here are some basic tips on how to let baby train to sit on potty:
  1. Start when he able to sit.
  2. Buy a suitable size of potty which can fit them well when sitting on it.
  3. Let them poo after meal or feed. They have energy to push.
  4. To redirect attention of sitting on pot, give them something to play.
  5. Be patient, accompany with 'ngm' 'ngm' sounds, or whatever you used to make him poo.
If the above you have done not apply to your baby, probably he is not ready for that. Remember don't force them. The youngest to train the better, it is easier to discipline them. Anytime when they can start to independent later, like at age of 2.5-3 yrs, they able to do the business with less supervision.

eSpring Water Power Carnival @ Sunway

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Yesterday for 10 hours long we were at Sunway witness the eSpring launching. eSpring is the 3rd generation of Amway Water Treatment System. Wake up early at 6am, prepare and send my boy to my mum house. Thought want to have breakfast before entering Sunway Lagoon, but after fetching the upline member, we were late for that. 8pm sharp we reach Sunway Pyramid, park our car there and walk to Sunway Lagoon entrance (next to the hotel) exchange our tickets for the lagoon wristband, security check on bags and took the lucky draw prize form then we go in.

Going down from escalator and reach the surf beach entrance. A lots of people, I start to worried on the locker availability and toilet. We are only allow to stay at surf beach area and not at other place like theme park or play those "chi-gik" water game at other site of the lagoon. So, we wait for the Opening starts at 9pm and drop our lucky draw form. The lucky draw section is at 12am.

People are still walking in after the Opening. Since there are many people, I started to see many are not getting their locker and toilet queue long too. I have my swimsuit wearing ready inside, but was thinking of after the game thousands people waiting for toilet to clean up that is really wasting time and messy. So I rather don't want to play. The whole day I was not seeing any wave roaring at the beach. There are beach games arrange by lagoon staff, 3 clowns entertaining the crowd and eSpring face painting too. Sien, luckily not jump down to play. Just loafing around, check out the product, eat at Zazu (a classy restaurant inside lagoon) and chit-chat with Upline members. Of cause we take the chance to order this water filter and got a prize (the first 400 only).

When time almost reach 12 noon, lucky draw section starts. 3 eSpring (worth RM3200 each for DP) are giving away free and 3 21" Samsung Flat screen TV draw for those who have order the eSpring. Both category we not have luck. Hopefully we hit something on September, there are more prizes. After the lucky draw thats the end of the program, members can stay to play on the surf beach or leave. We leave lagoon before heavy down pour to Sunway Pyramid to have our lunch at Harts Chicken Buffet. So long we didn't go out for 2 for such long hours. Window shop a while too after lunch. Not buying anything. When we at Parkson thought want to find some kitchen stuff at top floor. Happen that this Parkson not selling kitchen stuff. Since we are there, we heard that there is Q&A game going on at DJ booth located at Customer Service Counter. We go there and I hit correct a question (asking what is the Parkson Sunway Pyramid phone no., I just read to them from the notice board next to the DJ..haha...just that easy) and got a 15 inches tall soft toy. It is a green green frog...

4pm we heading to Sunway Convention Center for eSpring Power Rally, presented by Steve and Karen. The talk about what are the special of this product and teaching the distributor how to sell this best system. This water system certified by NSF, running on smart chip system uses a multi-stage carbon-block filter and UV light to kill almost 99.99% contaminants. It shows obvious revolution of this 3rd generation. So eager to use it tomorrow when it reach me. The talks end after 2 hours. Very tired, pick up my boy and pack dinner before heading home.

3rd time template change

Previous template

This is the 3rd time change, which also the shortest time between last change. Due to some readers having difficulty loading my blog, slow and hang, probably a change will ease off the problem. After crawling over all blog template design site, choose and testing those template I downloaded, do many research, trial and error on CSS script and also on beta blogger. Finally, a change using back the template supply from Blogger.com will be a good choice.

Currently this Stretch Denim theme template is supported by beta version. It is easy to use, more to click and drag based without touching the CSS script. Changes made are like, design my own image header and the page elements added before blog post column. For this adding extra page elements on top of blog post, got to do a bit changes on CSS script. I got the help from the tutorial I read some days ago. For other side bar page elements, colour and font setting are quite straight forward from wizard tab. Overall beta version is more user friendly without need to edit CSS like classic template, especially when add on new things to side bar, got to take care a lot of the HTML open end codes.

Again from this round change, I learn new things.

Another new home

Currently staying at 10 floor, a small unit apartment, facing a wide golf course and greenery view from the balcony with quiet surrounding. Nothing much to complain. We choose this view for not facing to the road which is noisy and dusty. But the recent rapid constructions going on and the traffic here is not what we like.

The construction works are: the overhead bridge right in front of entrance especially (don't know connect from where to Bukit Jalil-Puchong highway) is going to open soon, under construction Saujana condo develop by Berjaya and a building inside the Sport school area.

For traffic wise, whenever there is big function going on at Stadium our entrance's traffic light will be closed up (we need to go further to next junction to make 'U' turn). Road closed from MRR2 exit to Sri Petaling to Bukit Jalil if having big football match (got to take the next Sri Petaling exit route to Bukit Jalil) and of cause everyday morning and after working hour is traffic jam. Parking also a bit problem for our 2nd car. Those who back late and happen visitor parking is full then got to park at the road side. So far we kena once saman for that.

Hubby have talk about want to shift long ago to East Lake at Seri Kembangan, near by South City Plaza, one of the condo belongs to my FIL. 1,100 sq ft, swimming pool view, fully furnished, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Condo facilities with swimming pool and club house. Monday night, we went over to take a look. Not many live in there, road in front of the condo still closed up. At night it is very very quiet. Overall the condo still dusty and many things not yet touch up. We went and check inside the house. Everything is there, build in cabinet at dining room, bedroom and kitchen, lights, water heater, 4 air-con, TV, washing machine, kitchen stove, kitchen hood, fridge, bed, dining table and chairs, sofa set and coffee table and alarm system. Tight security here, main door look need thumb print and set pin to open door (currently not in use yet, still open with key). Each floor not having many units, currently our floor nobody live in yet.

Hall

Dining area

Kitchen

Master bedroom

Washroom

It is a luxury home, as a phase at lobby lift saying "Back Home like going back to Hotel" (something like that). But I found that it is not a baby friendly home. Master bedroom and living room windows are height as the wall, where the small window at knee length can be simply open up by kids. Standing beside the master bedroom's window is like standing at the side edge of the building, where you very scary to look down. Those build in cabinet is not place at somewhere for us easy to move. Table shape edge are everywhere, cabinet size also small kind, no balcony (no proper place to dry cloth). Another thing, that 2 toilets are very small, think 3 people stand in side will not able to turn. Kitchen is big but all cabinet placement is not a single that I like. Thats some good and not good of fully furnished home.

So as overall, if were to stay, got to renovate 50% of it, else is hard to get me to stay there. Since everything is in, is kind of waste also to renovate again. I still very much prefer my current small unit.

Weekend

Went to shop again last Saturday at 1 Utama in search for new pair of shoes. Since mum going over to Kota Damansara - my cousin sis place, so I take the opportunity to let Terry follow my parents then I can go shop alone. A very fast shopping, 2 hours look, try and compare price at all shoe shops. Finally got 2 pairs that I'm very satisfied with the price and style. A pair of casual sandal and a ladies shoe. August is the actual month having Mega sales, mostly shops are now having high discount, but I don't have enough time to go in and check what are the good deals, else can shop for more.

After shop, took a cab back to my cousin sis house and eat her tasty nasi lemak with squid in chilis (yummy!). Chit-chat with all my aunty drop by at KL from north and south. Wait till my boy wakes from his 3 hours nap, then back home cook dinner.

Sunday, no one help me in church with Terry, so I skipped church. Also, missed Kwan's princess fullmoon party. Coz my mum overnight at cousin house and later at noon back for doctor appointment, quite busy, so don't want to trouble.

Supposed went to my beautician there to listen a health talk (by invitation) on how ladies wearing a bra, the correct way of wearing it and what are the sickness can cause if wearing a wrong bra. Due to hubby many reasons for not fetching me, so I miss this good talk. Probably he not able to handle Terry alone without me, but he just didn't say it out. So later after Terry wake from his 1st nap, we went window shop at The Store, pack dinner then back home.

After Terry have his evening feed, I went opposite the stadium there for TV3 'Jom Heboh' Carnival. It is full of people and actually over the weekend the place is jam up with people and cars. Till the traffic light in front of my place is closed up. I take my own sweet time walk over and check out what are the stalls having.

Normally this kind of carnival stuff, a lot of Malays visit. Big small kids and babies are in prams and people holding many bags of sales item. Things are selling hot in RM10 per set or per bag. People grabbing them like free. Actually is just slightly cheaper than outside. Some booth having games and free food tasting and people are queuing up long for it. Booth I saw and I remembered are: Suzuki, Bridgestones, AAM, Dutch Lady, Mamee, Fernleaf, Nutrigen, Campbells, Drypers, CCM, Berita Harian, Silky Girl, Jacker's, Munchy's, Ali café, Nescafé, Hotlink and etc..I bought some yogurt for Terry, Pink Guava juice and Campbells soups.

That's my weekend.

14 months old

Height: 81cm
Weight: Going to 11kg
Teeth: 11 (4 up, 7 down), teeth on eruption not counted.
Milk: 7-8 oz each, 3 times
Water: 6 oz
Solid: Porridge day and night + fruits

Nothing big changes, still crawl. Lately when he crawl, he used knee crawl a few steps then back to army crawl. Obviously show his teething uncomfortable by wailing at night. Last week he starts demand for midnight feed. Last night, I try to make more oz for his last feed. He is able to finish that 8 oz milk and sleep. To my surprise, he can stop wailing by just having water for 3 times with eye closed then back to sleep when he drank enough. I think it time to top up milk for him during last feed, so that he able to sleep till morning. I don't want to carry on this midnight feed and try to correct his eating time back to normal. These 2 nights he is not that wailing that much, think teething difficulty is over.
  • Likes to open drawer and dig things out. After he play enough with those stuff he dig out, he will sweep away the things here and there.
  • Likes to hold the milk bottle cap and try to cover back the bottle by himself after drinking. Even likes to play with it when I gave him the empty one.
  • Switch on and off TV button, open/close player deck and always want to hold on remote control.
  • Whatever we holding on to eat, he will cry for it.
  • Kiss on all stuff that he likes, but just not kiss his mummy and daddy.
  • Even he still not able to stand without support, he likes us to hold under his arm and walk fast/run.
  • Giggle when watch his favourite cartoon: Mickey mouse, Barney and Pocoyo.
  • Action I never taught him, he did from what he observed - always I tied my hair infront of him. Once I gave him my hairband, he take and put behind his head, indicating that this thing is place at there.

Here are some snapshot on a typical day
Morning after shower - watching TV

After 1.5 hours on TV - Get ready to take nap

Wake up from 1st nap - eat lunch

Lunch delivery

For those SAHM, how did you prepared lunch for only yourself eating? Did you purposely heat the wok and cook for the little bit then wash whole lots of things before you get to eat?

After 1 year staying at home, I have actually no idea how to cook for myself and what to eat. Normally my lunch will be left over from last dinner, bread, noodles (sometimes instant) or sometime really cook proper lunch with soup and dish. I really get so boring of cooking own lunch as it is waste of time doing the hassle work. If only my place got food stall or restaurant I'll definitely go ta pao. It is better to save my time and do more paid post. Some day if busy I have my late late lunch or even no eat.

Since long ago I have an idea of ordering food delivery. Lately I only search and ask around for it. Before that, I found it at Mom's food, the only caterer delivery to my nearest area, not exact my place also. I didn't call up to ask since place not right. Until one day I saw the ad brochure at my mum's place on food delivery to my area, which is also provided exactly the same website that I search before. This website that I'm reading is actually not updated. The name and phone number has been changed.

Based on the brochure, it is Mary food Delivery. Delivery service area covering Puchong, Bukit Jalil, Putra Heights, Sri Petaling, Seputeh, PJ, Bangsar, Cheras, Ampang and Sg. Long. It is home cooked. Everyday different dishes with meat, vege and seafood. Microwavable container provided. Ordering can be send starting from 1 pax. Food provided for lunch and dinner.

Currently I'm trying out the lunch on alternate day. RM 7 per pax without rice. So far I'm satisfied with the food cooked and portion. If you are interested you can call 014-626 2000 or email chiam_es@hotmail.com

Creatures Mummy Hates Most

Lately so many tags running around. Those I happen to read somewhere, soon or later will reach me tagged by someone. It is good too, sometime out of topic to blog, tag serve the best. This tag comes from Sasha, later by Lovely Mummy. I need to do it faster so that I can tag others.

The two most creatures that I hate are,
1) Cockroaches - During the time I stay with parents, always find them at toilet and drain behind kitchen. The 2 long whiskers moving at head so geli. Especially those big cockroach can fly one, once I saw them, my body will feel itchy. Last time got dad and brother kill it for me when I shout for cockroach. Now stay by own with hubby most of the time I kill it with spray. In fact hubby also scared of it.

2) Butterfully larva - like caterpillar in green before it transform to butterfly. I also feel very geli. Last time, my dad plants a lot of "fu guai" flower. During evening plant watering that time, I used to kill those cocoon from eating the leaves.

Teething time

Since last week, Terry shown his uncomfortable of teething time at night and since then he demand for midnight feed everyday. Daytime he is nothing like normal, but come to night time he will cry at sleep and wail for carry.

I'm not sure whether his teething uncomfortable causing him want midnight feed or he really hungry for milk now. Since small he was rarely on midnight feed. Currently he has his last feed between 10.30-11pm, supposed he can sleep till morning after that. Lately he just couldn't sleep tight at night. Between 12am-3am, he will cry and ask for carry. After comforting him and back to bed he is able to sleep. Later in 30 min or an hour time he wail again. This time I will give him milk. Only after this feed he can sleep soundly till morning 9.00-9.30am.

As what I can check, there are 5 teeth erupting at the same time - Lower cuspid for both side, lower first molar (2 teeth side by side) and upper left cuspid. I was ready and expecting he might get fever anytime. So far he not having anything, only wailing at bedtime. Up to today there are 3 teeth fully erupt and 2 more in mild eruption.

I was in worried now on his lower first molar teeth (position 4), there are 2 teeth erupting at one gum space. Meaning at point 4, there are 2 teeth erupting side by side and now can see is a bit swollen at the gum area. I have check him with my finger and can feel that there is 2 sharp edge. Since it is not fully erupt yet, I still not very sure whether is 2 teeth growing at a gum spot or that 2 sharp edge is the shape of 1 teeth. Will wait till both teeth fully erupt and see how the position like. Hopefully it is not 2 teeth at one gum spot. Really can find that he is very uncomfortable for that.

Hopefully this midnight feed routine only serve for his current teething time. Really I'm not having good sleep too..
